Hospitalisation with Infectious Mononucleosis Increases Risk of Inflammatory Bowel Disease

A nationwide, population-representative cohort study of almost 40,000 people hospitalised with glandular fever and almost 400,000 sex-, age—and residence-matched individuals from the general Danish population shows that hospitalisation with infectious mononucleosis is associated with an increased risk of developing inflammatory bowel disease later in life.
