Thoracic Ultrasound Can Reduce Latent and Underdiagnosed Interstitial Lung Disease in Patients with RA

In this MEDtalk, Bjørk K. Sofíudóttir presents a study that tested thoracic ultrasound (TUS) for detecting interstitial lung disease (ILD) in rheumatoid arthritis (RA) patients. TUS identified 82.6% of ILD cases but was less effective in obese patients. The findings suggest TUS can be a useful screening tool for ILD, particularly when combined with systematic respiratory symptom checks.
