Pneumococcal vaccination might prevent the risk of serious pneumococcal infection in patients with autoimmune inflammatory rheumatic diseases (AIIRD). However, a study of the antibody response in patients with AIIRD showed that only 36% achieved a protective antibody level after pneumococcal vaccination.
