Early Cerebral Amyloid-β Accumulation and Hypermetabolism are Associated with Subtle Cognitive Deficits Before Accelerated Cerebral Atrophy

This study, presented by Aftab Bakhtiari, PhD, focuses on the early accumulation of cerebral amyloid beta and hypermetabolism in relation to subtle cognitive deficits preceding accelerated cerebral atrophy in the context of Alzheimer’s disease (AD). The research aimed to enhance understanding of how biomarkers, specifically amyloid beta accumulation and cerebral glucose metabolism, can differentiate between normal aging and those at risk for developing Alzheimer’s disease.
