SABCS 2025: Patterns of Opioid Use Among Breast Cancer Survivors

At SABCS 2025, postdoctoral researcher Kirsten Marie Woolpert presented a nationwide Danish study on prescription opioid use among breast cancer survivors. While most women used opioids safely and for short periods, a smaller subgroup experienced prolonged or higher-risk use. These patterns were strongly associated with socioeconomic factors such as income, education, and employment, and persisted despite tighter national prescribing regulations.
