Palliative Care of Severe Epilepsy

Palliative care for epilepsy should not be seen as separate from active care but rather as a complementary approach throughout the disease progression, according to Reetta Kälviäinen, from the Epilepsy Centre at Kuopio University Hospital, who spoke at the EAN Congress about the need to integrate palliative care early in the treatment of severe epilepsy. She also highlighted the importance of effective seizure management in palliative care and the potential of remote care.
