Marina Konopleva

Dr. Marina Konopleva recently joined Montefiore Einstein Cancer Center in Bronx, New York as a Professor in the Departments of Oncology and Molecular Pharmacology, after her successful tenure as an investigator at the MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas where she currently maintains a part-time Professor in Leukemia appointment. She also serves as the Director of the Leukemia Program and the Co-Director of the Translational Blood Cancer Institute at Einstein-Montefiore. She conducts laboratory research focusing on approaches in activating cell death, metabolic inhibitors, and immune-oncology in AML and has published over 400 peer-reviewed manuscripts. She is a scholar of the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society and her research is funded by the NIH, Department of Defense, and various private foundations. Her research extends to clinical translational investigations and she has developed clinical trials based on laboratory discoveries. Dr. Konopleva has also been an active mentor to trainees including undergraduate, medical and graduate students, and post-doctoral fellows who trained under her direction in support of her various laboratory grants and projects. She leads the Leukemia SPORE at UT MD Anderson Cancer Center. Her clinic follows patients with hematologic malignancies, with a focus on acute leukemias (acute myeloid and acute lymphoblastic leukemia). She has additional expertise in treating patients with high-risk myelodysplastic syndrome, chronic myeloid leukemia and blastic plasmacytoid dendritic cell neoplasm.
