The choice of specialty is often a matter of coincidence for physicians. Although most have dreams or goals, many end up elsewhere. That was also the case for Jens Benn Sørensen, who, after 33 years as a lung cancer specialist at Rigshospitalet, has now retired from his position as Chief Physician. His career began with a chance employment at the Oncology Department at the Finsen Institute, where he met Heine.
