Influenza Vaccination Enhances Outcomes During Immunotherapy

Antonis Valachis, MD, medical oncologist at Örebro University Hospital and Associate Professor of Oncology at Örebro University, Sweden, presents a Swedish multi-region study exploring the interaction between immunotherapy and influenza vaccination in patients with metastatic cancer. The study shows no increased risk of adverse events and demonstrates improved progression-free and overall survival among vaccinated patients. These findings support current vaccination recommendations and suggest that influenza vaccination may boost the immune response and enhance the effectiveness of immunotherapy.
