Clonal Evolution and Plasticity Drive Metastatic Spread in Prostate Cancer

Joachim Weischenfeldt from the Biotech Research & Innovation Centre (BRIC) in Copenhagen presents his new study exploring how clonal evolution and transcriptional plasticity drive metastatic spread in prostate cancer. Using multi-region sequencing, the study reveals continuous metastatic seeding from multiple primary tumor clones, early emergence of androgen-independent cells, and key roles for plasticity pathways, highlighting new implications for treatment strategies and tumor sampling.
