EHA 2026: Circulating Tumor Plasma Cells Predict Progression in Smoldering Myeloma

At the EHA 2026 Congress, Sigrun Thorsteinsdottir, MD, Department of Haematology, Rigshospitalet, Copenhagen, Denmark, presents data suggesting that circulating tumor plasma cells are a sensitive dynamic biomarker in smoldering multiple myeloma. Serial blood monitoring by next-generation flow cytometry identified most patients before clinical progression, supporting a minimally invasive approach to risk stratification and follow-up.
