ASCO 2026: No Survival Benefit With Thoracic Radiotherapy in SCLC

In the MEDtalk, Bjørn Henning Grønberg, MD, Professor, Consultant in Oncology at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology and St. Olavs Hospital, Trondheim, Norway, presents results from an international phase III trial presented at ASCO 2026 investigating thoracic radiotherapy in combination with chemoimmunotherapy for extensive-stage small cell lung cancer. The study showed no survival benefit from adding thoracic radiotherapy and reported higher rates of adverse events and treatment-related deaths in the radiotherapy group.
