Agnar Martin Bjørnstad

Agnar Martin Bjørnstad is a PhD student in Artificial Intelligence at the University of Oslo and Akershus University Hospital, working at the intersection of machine learning, medical informatics, and breast cancer research. His doctoral project focuses on developing multimodal artificial intelligence models for clinical decision support in early HR+/HER2– breast cancer, with a particular focus on assessing the risk of recurrence.

His research aims to combine real-world hospital data from multiple sources, e.g. blood test results, patient journal entries, pathology data, and medical imaging, to identify patients at increased risk of recurrence. His work includes topics such as self-supervised learning, survival modelling, and multimodal deep learning, with the goal of supporting more personalized follow-up and treatment decisions.

Before starting his PhD, Bjørnstad completed an MSc in Computer Science at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology, specializing in artificial intelligence. He also holds a BSc in Statistics.
